Where Do Your Priorities Lie?

We're all familiar with the story of Martha and Mary in Luke chapter 10. Martha felt overwhelmed with all the work and wanted Jesus to tell her sister Mary to help her, but Mary was sitting at His feet, receiving His Word.

Luke 10:41-42 "And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

Jesus was correcting her attitude, not what she was doing. Yes, she was busy about getting things done, but her attitude about what she was doing and what Mary was doing was wrong. What Mary was doing was a needful thing. It took priority over anything that Martha was doing. If we want our service and ministry to be acceptable and pleasing to the Lord, we must get our priorities right. We have to receive Jesus' ministry to us before we can be effective in our work and ministry to others. When we neglect to sit at His feet first, taking in His Word, we end up feeling overworked and unappreciated. When we keep our priorities in line with His priorities, He will enable us to do what needs to be done with joy and a sense of fulfillment whether it is always recognized by others or not.

We should offer up each day to the Lord and ask Him to guide us by His Holy Spirit! Ask Him to help you use your time efficiently and to keep you from being so rushed that you neglect to hear His voice. Take time to appreciate and treasure the people He brings across your path each day...especially your family. How much of our time has been spent praising the Lord...encouraging our children and family...and telling others about Jesus' love for them? Let's make a positive difference in someone's life today!! Each day is a fresh start. God wants to do wonderful things in and through us as we yield to Him! God gave you the gift of another day and He has something He desires to accomplish for Him today. Are you yielded to Him today? Die to self and yield to Him and let Him use you today.

Good Post Mrs Julie. I know in my life I have to be careful of letting my prorities slip. When they start slipping is when I start backsliding.

This is a timely post, considering the season! Normally I'm a Mary, but not so this week. Have a wonderful party this weekend, and I'll check back with you a little later.

VERY IMPORTANT!

Are you a good person? Take this test and find out.
