Thank God For Children

Matthew 19:14 "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."

Recently we had our Awana's Award Program at our church. What a blessing it was to see the children sing their songs and quote their Scripture verses. My niece Karlee has been going for several weeks and was quite the ham during the program. But she enjoys being a part of it.

After the program ended our assistant pastor preached a short message that I felt was very important to share with those who were there. Sometimes you'll come across people in the church that fret about children in the church. They are afraid of messes being made or things getting broken. First of all...let me say that plenty of adults do their share of making messes or breaking things. So how can we be upset about the children doing so.

Children are our heritage. Every church should thank God for the children. They are our future. Jesus loves children. We need to reach all the children we can. If your church has a bus ministry....then thank God.

Children are our happiness. They bring us joy. They do bring us other things too...such as frustration and heartache...but they really do bring us joy.

Children are our hope. They are the hope of getting out the gospel. Those of us who are older will eventually slow down in our health and even pass off the scene. We need someone who will come up behind us and take the gospel to others. So you may get frustrated with the little ones in your church...but thank God for those willing to work with them...teach them and drive the buses to go pick up those whose parents can't or won't go to church.

God will do great things for the church that cares and reaches out to children.

Good observation, Julie. Many parents in today's day and age have neglected their responsibility to raise their children to know and love the Saviour. Children in today's society lack humility, they lack manners, they lack respect for authority. Thank God for the New Testament Church where parents can learn GOD's plan for raising children!

I totally agree with Mary! Even some kids at church these days lack basic manners and respect. I struggle evrey Sunday if I should keep the children in service with me or send them to Sunday school. Not because of what others think. I want the children in service with me and my husband but they love their classes.

Sis. Tiffany...Bless your heart! You should not have to worry about what adults are going to say about your children or how other children might influence your children. But I know that can be a concern. However...I do know that kids will be kids and although we should make sure to let parents and children know when they have made a mess and/or damaged something...we should not get the attitude that "if we only didn't have children in our church this wouldn't have happened". I've heard such things said before. I for one thank God that those children are in the church. They need to be there...and so do the parents. But both need to be taught to appreciate and respect the House of God and the things within.
