The Sin Of Immorality Part III

In the prior two posts I've been sharing with you parts of an article that Bro. David Cloud did a study on. I found it to be so full of good information and warning that I have been sharing what he had to say with you. I've also added some thoughts of my own and what the Lord showed me on this topic of the lifestyle of immorality. There is much danger and I don't think many people give it much thought as to what takes place as a result of this lifestyle. This will be the final post in this series. I pray it has been a help to each of you and that you will realize you stand warned as to what can happen as a result of this sin.

This lifestyle leads to remorse. Proverbs 5:12-14 "And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof; And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!" They are blinded by lust and when it is over they find they have lost much. They end up with remorse that they did not listen to the voice of wisdom. They hated instruction and despised reproof and did not obey the voice of their teachers. But once it is done...it is too late to go back. What is done is done and cannot be undone. We need to understand and remember that remorse is not the same as repentance. II Corinthians 7:10 "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." Paul mentions the sorrow of the world as opposed to godly sorrow that worketh repentance to salvation. The sorrow of the world is to be sorry for the CONSEQUENCES of sin...but it is not to be sorry toward God in the sense of repenting or breaking His laws and being ready to change the direction of his/her life and submit to Him. The sorrow of this world is centered upon this world...repentance is centered upon God. Many are living a life of immorality and once they notice the consequences of their actions are sorrowful that they did what they did. The way they should respond is to feel sorrow for hurting God because of what they did.

This lifestyle also leads to slavery. Proverbs 5:22-23 "His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray." There are strong ties associated with sin. Those cords get tighter and tighter with time. The cords of alcohol...sex...drugs and love of money (as well as many others) are hard to cut and walk away from. There is an answer to the cutting of those cords. In fact...not just AN answer but THE ONLY answer. The answer is Jesus Christ. He offers salvation to sinners. That salvation brings cleansing from ALL sin. Jesus Christ died on the cross and shed His blood to make atonement for our sins. By faith in Him we can be forgiven and converted.

I Corinthians 6:9-11 "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind. Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."

Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

If you are living a life of immorality...there is hope for deliverance. He delivered me from all these cords mentioned in these posts...and He wants to deliver you too. One cannot cut those cords on their own...so stop trying to do it on your own and call on Him. Let Him come into your heart and life and change you.

II Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

I just read this and went back to look at the others. I must say that they are really good lessons we all need to listen to.

Galatians 6:1 considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
