My Sinful Thoughts

Romans 7:23 "But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members."

We ask God to forgive our sinful acts but do we ask Him to forgive us of our sinful thoughts?

I was in the kitchen and something was said at one time that used a word I count as sin to say and I was reminded it was sin. So I asked God to forgive me for thinking it. I didn't say it out loud...so no one else heard me say it. But if it enters the mind as a thought and it would be sin to say it...then it is just as much sin to think it. God heard it when I thought it...even if no one else did.

Do you ever think things that you pass off as doing nothing wrong because no one else heard it or knew you thought it? God heard it!!

We need to put such thoughts into captivity and confess it as sin to God. Don't let that thing go unconfessed and to break break fellowship with the Lord. If the Lord convicts you of that thought then confess it...don't pass it off as just a thought that no one heard or knew you thought.

I know this is a short post...but it is one the Lord helped me with and so I thought maybe it might help you too. Have a great day!!

Mrs Julie this is a good post. The Bible tells us the thought of foolishness is sin. I just can't wait until we will never have a bad thought again. Even so Lord Jesus come quickly. YOu have a good day too.

I keep getting behind in my reading of your blog (though I always catch up eventually). ;)

Your post about praying before you buy was certainly a thought provoking one. I wanted to post a reply here so it wouldn't get lost in the shuffle.

I hope you and your family are doing well. I still have to read the rest of your posts for December, so I am sure I have a little to catch up on in that regard.

May the Lord continue to bless you.

I have heard a few pastors ask us how we would feel if a day in our lives was played before the congregation on a Sunday morning, thoughts included... I'm ashamed to admit that I wouldn't want that at all, but what makes me even more sad is to think that the Lord does see and hear all our thoughts and actions at all times and He still loves us. Just before reading your post I was praying about this very thing. I too can't wait for his return Sis. Julie... but in the mean time, God help us to continue in this walk and live in His joy. I love you tons, have a blessed day!

mrs. b...you're very welcome. I needed the reminder when God convicted me at that moment I had that thought.
