Giving God Your All

Mark 12:41-44 "And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:"

Here we read of the account of a widow woman who gave her two mites. God isn't interested in how much we give but the attitude with which we give.

The widow didn't have a lot of money. But she gave all. God saw what she gave and He's also looking at our lives and seeing what we're giving. This widow cast in more even though she had less. She gave less in comparison to others in the amount she gave. The difference with her was that she gave all she had. Many today are giving God the left-overs. This widow gave all she had. There was nothing left over.

Her giving was without argument. She didn't fuss about it. She gladly and willingly gave it. The ones that had much to give gave little. Little is much when God is in it. We need to just fully surrender and give our all.

Her giving was without acknowledgement. She didn't announce what she was giving. God sees the things we do and He knows the motive behind it. Even when no one else sees it or acknowledges it...God does. There will be times that our service to and for God will go unnoticed but we have to keep going and keep doing. Only One noticed what she gave and He is the only one that counts.

Her giving was without adjustment. She held nothing back. Partial obedience is still disobedience. God gave all when He gave His Son. We should give as much. Love motivated God to give His Son...and love should motivate us to give our all!! We should give to God even if we never see results.

Her giving was the same amount of giving as what God gave. She gave all she had. God blesses those that sacrificially give. The measure of the giving should be everything. God never said He wanted us to be the best...but He did say He wants us to give our best.

These are notes from a message preached by Bro. Ricky Gravely on June 28, 2007 at Faith Baptist Camp.

Mrs Julie thanks for sharing this thought that you got at camp. The Lord has been dealing with me about this very thing many Christians live life partially surrender, but that is disobedience. Would the Lord help us all to take an inventory and open every door in our lives for him to do with us what he wants. Giving all is not easy but it is neccessary.

bro. tim....I too believe that total surrender is necessary. But you are also right that it is not an easy thing to do. But it isn't impossible or the Lord would have never asked it or commanded it of us.

You are right Julie, it isn't easy but we are commanded to do it. Sounds like you had some wonderful sermons at camp.

Love you, Lyndy

I must admit, that giving is one of my problems areas. I find my self having a hard time giving up things and not just money, but time and everything else. I think that time is something that many many people have a hard time with but in a lot of cases that is needed more than money. But as you said, we are commanded to guve our all and that does include time!!!

Awesome post Sis Julie!!

Yes, it is hard to do but all believers must strive to do this..... Today, if only for today, I know that God looked down on me and smiled.... I stayed in the Word all day long and also listened to praise and worship music while reading! It was an awesome! And I also witnessed to a dear friend of mine! I have never really witnessed to anyone. I know He is proud of me!

Great Post, Sis. Julie. I am glad we don't have to have so much or be a certain way to give to the Lord. We just have to have a willing heart to give our all and do it. It matters not if it is large or small just our all. connie from Texas

Awesome. Thanks for sharing these sermons with us. They are initiating much thought and reflection on my part.

I love the two statements: "Little is much when God is in it." and "Partial obedience is still disobedience." So true!

Thanks again! :)
