Help, Lord!!

Psalm 12:1 "Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men."

How many of you have uttered those two words "Help, LORD"? I'm sure many of you have. I know I have. They are probably the two most often spoken words that come from the lips of God's children. On the other hand...it may be the most neglected prayer. Many people try to handle things alone. I've also been guilty of doing that. Have you?

King David was the person praying this prayer in this Scripture verse. Even David needed help. If he needed help...surely you and I need help....and lots of it!

In our most normal of circumstances we need God's help. If you don't or can't get help from God then you are helpless. When we ask for help from God we will get all that we need and sometimes even more than we anticipated from Him.

I think sometimes it is hard to cry "Help, LORD" when you haven't been serving Him or living for Him. However...if you cry out for help from your heart during the most frustrating times in your life He'll help. But He may want to talk to you about a few things first. He may want you to realize that you need to get some things right with Him. He will allow things to come into our lives to get us right with Him so we will cry out for help from Him. But before He will help us He will show us where we've gone wrong and give us opportunity to get it right. When you do you can rest assured that He will help you with whatever it is you're facing. He is a very present help in time of trouble (Psalm 46:1) and your only hope in that time of distress and turmoil. I know He is because I've cried out for help when I've been right with Him and He has helped me and I've also cried out for help when I've not been right with Him and He showed me where I was wrong and gave me opportunity to make it right and then helped me as I went through the consequences of my erring ways.

I hope this helps someone today!! I had this on my heart in praying for a couple of people this morning.

Thank God we serve a Savior Who loves us and cares for us even when we are in the wrong. He is always there waiting on us to make things right with Him. I love you Lord!!

Mrs Julie thanks for sharing this post. I know there has definitely been times in my life that I have just had to cry out help me. The Lord has always been faithful even when I have been unfaithful. YOu are also right in the part of he will help even when we have neglected him as long as we get our heart right with him. If it wasn't for his unconditional love for his children where would we be. Have a great day.

I thank God that He is always here for me in my times of trouble. When I need Him, He is always here no matter what time of day or night. I can always count on my wonderful Father to be here for me. I use to try to do everything on my own and when it did not work out, then turn to God. I try my hardest to turn to God first now, it makes life so much easier. It is hard to turn to Him first sometimes, but the ourcome is so much better!

Awesome post my dear sister!

bro. tim....I know where I'd be without God's unconditional love....I'd be in Hell today. I was headed there fast when He found me and saved me. Thank God He loved me and responded when I cried "Help, LORD".

Sis Julie, thanks for this great reminder of where our help comes from, and the fact that we need God's help. Reminds me of Peter's cry on the water, "Lord, save me!" Short, desperate, and heartfelt.

Psalms 12 is one of my favourite psalms. I was trying to memorize it a few years ago, and I was able to make up a tune for it (too bad I can't write music!) - that made it so much easier to memorize it quickly. Whenever, I want to recall that Psalm, especially verses 6-7, I remember the tune and sing it quietly.

God bless.

Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

bro. jerry....I agree with memorizing scripture to song. It sure does help. The McGill girls' home (now Victorious Valley Children's Home) has a girls group of troubled girls that sing and quote scripture. They helped me to learn how to memorize scripture. The first chapter I was able to memorize like that was Psalm 1. I will never forget that Psalm as long as I can quote it like they taught me. Thank you for commenting and your faithfulness to stop by. It really is an encouragment to me.

sis. karen...thank you so much. You are blessing just taking time to stop by and read even if you don't comment. I'm able to see where each of my visitors are from when they visit my site....I have a lot of them that stop by each and every day but I only get a few to comment. I'm glad you found time to do so. It's always an encouragment to me.

sis. sandy....Amen!!! God is faithful to put those in our life who will strengthen us and encourage us when we need it. He will use people in our lives to help us through difficult times. It is still Him doing the helping...but He uses other vessels to accomplish His work at times. Isn't that a blessing to know?

I'm so glad HE hears me and helps me even in my lowest points. I'm also glad for HIS chastisement when I need it! That just reminds me HE really does care! Another winning post sis!

sis. pam....I too am thankful for the chastising hand of God. It really does remind us that we belong to Him. Its never fun...but I'm thankful that He doesn't leave us in our sinful state without attempting to show us the error of our ways. The important thing is to respond to it when He does. That is when He longs to hear us cry "Help, Lord".

VERY IMPORTANT!
