There Is A Fight Going On

I Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"

I was thinking this morning about how the devil fights us each and every day in this thing of following God's will. If you are saved and love the Lord Jesus Christ...then you have a desire to follow God's will in your life. The thing to remember is that our enemy doesn't want us to follow God's will for our lives. He wants to keep us out of God's will. He will use any means he deems possible to accomplish that in our lives. He will use circumstances, other people and our flesh. And sometimes the other people he will use are other saved people.

We are faced with decisions and choices to make each and every day of our lives that if we make the wrong ones can take us out of God's will. That is why it is so important to stay prayed up and close to the heart of God so that we will not miss it when God is whispering to us what choices we should make.

Living the Christian life is not always easy. By that I mean that the decisions and choices we make are not always popular and are not always easy to accept for ourselves. But if we love the Lord then we will want to make the right choices no matter who may ridicule us or get mad at us. The Lord is the only One I want to please. There is peace in making the right choices and decisions. That is because when we make choices according to God's will then we are still in His will and in His will we find peace. There is no peace or joy in living outside of God's will. So why would we even want to make choices that would take us out of God's will? That is exactly what our enemy wants us to do. He doesn't like us having peace and joy. When we are lacking these two elements in our Christian lives we are ineffective for Christ. When we are ineffective then we are not witnessing or showing forth a Christ-like testimony in our lives. When others don't see Christ in us then they don't see anything different in us that they would desire to have.

So be careful in the decisions and choices you make today. Our enemy is right there to put things before us to tempt us to choose contrary to God's will.

I know I am rendered an ineffective witness so often. I know that my chronic pain hinders my attitude at times. It is a battle I constantly fight and on my knees before the Lord repeatedly asking for strength to be more effective. The enemy seems to enjoy using illness in so many Christians. Have you noticed how many Pastors, Pastors wives, missionaries come down with major health problems? What a blessing it is though to see them continue onward for the Lord.

Peace and joy is what the world is missing! And we have it, lets hope and pray we show it.

Our Pastor was just talking about last night how just one decision made different might have put him in a whole different place. I think maybe we don't take decisions we make serious enough. I am not just speaking about the big ones but are there really any small decisions in our life?? Connie from Texas. Great Post, very thought provoking.

Absolutely. Excellent thoughts. We do have an adversary and he's up to no good. One of his strategies is to convince people he doesn't exist! As Christians, I'm glad we have the "full armor of God" to don, so we can stand firm against his wiley ways.

Mrs Julie this is a great post. How is speaks to my heart. I know as you have probably made decisions that were not in the will of God that I still reap the consequences of. May God help us to stay in his perfect will everyday of our lives. Thanks for the post.

What a great post! Being in the center of God's will sure does keep us out of trouble! How I pray I remain in that Center :-)
