You've Dwelt Here Long Enough

Deuteronomy 1:6 "The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount."

Moses in his last message in Deuteronomy strongly advised the children of Israel, that they had dwelt long enough where they were. We need to heed this message today in our own lives!! Many Christians have stopped where they are in their Christian growth. They are not witnessing to the lost at all or are witnessing very little. Many Christians have gotten used to little Bible reading, little prayer, little faith and many are not even tithing, let alone giving sacrificially.

Israel could have testified for a long time about the great battles they had won but those battles would not do for today. God had more battles for them to fight. They needed to get out of their comfort zone. It would be painful to get out of their comfort zone but it had to be done.

We need to not stay in our comfort zone of thinking that you're not where you were last year so you are doing okay. No...no...no!! We need to strive to grow in our Christian life. Is it painless to grow? No it isn't. God uses the pains in our lives to help us grow. Remember when you were a young child and you had growing pains? They were needful. It meant that your bones were growing. They weren't pleasant but you had to go through that to be the person you physically are today. It will hurt to grow spiritually also...but we need to realize it is needful to become what God wants us to be for Him.

Don't be satisfied with where you are today. Strive to be more for God tomorrow and in the days to come. Prayer will get you through those hurting times when the pains are either mild or intense. Prayer is that healing salve that God will use to soothe those growing pains.

I don't know about you but I have set some spiritual goals for myself for this coming year. And for me to reach those goals I'm going to have to experience some growing pains. Those goals won't come to pass if I dwell where I am today for the rest of the year or even till tomorrow. I want to be further along in my Christian life tomorrow than I am today.

Have you dwelt where you are long enough?

Oooooo, how good was THIS??? Excellent post today, Sis! I know that I have been "lax" in some areas of my own spiritual walk and you have given me a good spanking :-) It's off to working on those areas!! Thank you for these posts - I am always fed here! God bless you, Sis!

Mrs Julie I left one post but somehow it didn't go through. I too have set spiritual goals and I agree I must and need to be further along tomorrow than I am today. The battle rages and sometimes the battle get hard and we get weary but there is still no excuse for not growing in Christ. Thanks for this thought provoking thought. It didn't step on my toes it went right to the heart.

Sis. Julie, finally I am back! I appreciated your devotional here. Press on and always abound in our work for the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58).

My computer died a horrible death in November and my Internet access was very limited (mostly checking email at the public library once the New Year hit). Some friends of mine pitched in and sent money to get my computer fixed. I got the updated/fixed computer back on Sunday. Now I am playing catch up. I have bookmarked your new blog and changed the links to it in my own blogs. Sorry about what happened, but happy that you are still pressing on and serving the Lord in your online ministry.

May the Lord richly bless you. Pretty soon I will have some new studies up on my blog too. It's one thing to preach a passage, another thing to put it all down in writing - so I got a bit blogged down in my first one (on Psalm 27). Perhaps I can finish it tomorrow or Friday. Come by for a visit. Looking forward to catching up on your postings here too.

Bro. Jerry.....AMEN!!! It is so good to see you back!! I've been so concerned about you. I'm glad you are okay. You have been in my prayers. It just didn't seem like you to just drop off like you did so I knew something had to have gone wrong. I prayed the Lord would help you through whatever it was you were going through. I'm so thankful He did...you are back online now!! Thank you for not being upset about my other site getting messed up or deleted or whatever happened to it. I like this one and had they come out with the Beta Blogger before I'd have known how to do all that you did for me on my other site.

This one is so much easier to manage and set up.

I'm so glad to see you back. I look forward to reading your posts on your site again as well!! God Bless you Brother!!

VERY IMPORTANT!

Are you a good person? Take this test and find out.
