Lessons Concerning Sin Part I

Galatians 6:7a "Be not deceived; God is not mocked..."

Sin is a very real part of our lives whether you are saved or not. We will not be rid of sin till we receive our glorified bodies at the rapture. Until then we still have the old man that is a very real part of us and until "he" is done away with we will battle sin in our daily lives.

The problem is that we in America have come to think of sin as something that is funny. Almost any hour of the day you can view a program that has taken some sin and portrayed it as funny or acceptable. Our churches are filled with saved people who have become "numb" to preaching on sin because they really don't think it is as bad as the preacher says. Let's examine four things about sin, two in this post and two in my next post.

First in Proverbs 14:9 the KJB says "Fools make a mock at sin; but among the righteous there is favour." To mock means to scorn, show contempt, to imitate or mimic as in fun. Sin is not neat, it is not cool, and while it may seem fun, the consequences are not. The world, and even some saved people, make jokes about various sins. What this does is cause a hardening to sin, and the saved person gets soft and finally gives in to it. In Isaiah 3:9 The Lord states that His own people had declared their sin as those of Sodom and were not ashamed. Sound familiar?

Second we read in Proverbs 14:34 "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people." The word reproach means to be shamed or disgraced. This hardly needs any explaining as you can look around you and see this very thing happening in our homes, churches, and our nation. Do not be fooled into believing you can sin, and that it will not bring shame and disgrace. Cause it most certainly will!!!

Great Post,
This is very true today. We as Christains and Americans need to repent and turn our hearts back to Jesus.

Mrs Julie I believe I remember when you had these on your other blog. This is very true about sin. It would have been great if God would have taken the sin nature out of us when we were saved but he did not so we must learn to crucify the flesh so we don't fall into sin. Good Post.
