Forgiveness

For most people forgiveness is not a problem for them. It is easy to forgive someone for the wrongs they do to us or against us. But we must remember that along with forgiveness comes forgetting what those have done to us or against us.

"I can forgive, But I cannot forget," is only another way of saying, "I will not forgive." A forgiveness ought to be like a cancelled note, torn in two and burned up, so that it can never be shown against the man."

That saying is so true. Forgiving has never really been a problem for me. I'm quick to forgive anyone for anything. And for the most part forgetting is not a problem. But the enemy oftentimes will come at me and drudge up those thoughts of remembrance in my mind and try to get me stirred up all over again about past wrongs done against me. We have to commit those thoughts to the Lord and ask Him to help us to put them away forever. Do any of you have difficulties with forgiveness? Or are you like me and are quick to forgive but can't easily forget those things done to you? Below are some scriptures from the Word of God (KJB) that might help you.

Matthew 6:14 "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you."

Matthew 18:21-23 "Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants."

Colossians 2:13-14 "And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, both he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross."

Ephesians 4:32 "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

If you are finding it hard to forgive someone for something then be honest with God about it and let Him help you with it. If you have forgiven but can't seem to forget...just remember that God never brings up past wrongs you have done and confessed. If you are reminded of them it is the devil doing it not God. Let God help you with the thing so you can live a victorious Christian life and not one of guilt and defeat.

Sometimes it is easy to forgive someone for what they did and sometimes it is difficult. I believe that when we forgive during the difficult times is when God truly wants to bless us. If we only forgive when it feels good or when it is easy we are no better than the world. People in the world forgive all the time. We need to seek God's help forgiving even during the difficult situations.

This study may be of some help in the area of remembering things - especially God remembering or not remembering our sins. Just a look at the times in Scripture where it says "God remembered" and what that means.

God Remembered

God bless.

P.S. Praise the Lord that He doesn't "remember" my sins!

VERY IMPORTANT!

Are you a good person? Take this test and find out.
