Angry Words

Angry words, oh, let them never
From your lips unthoughtful fall.
They may weaken a younger brother
Who has heeded Jesus' call.
If you are tried and tempted and
You've used the strength you've got,
Seal your lips and hear the words:
"Be ye angry, and sin not."

Angry words are, oh, so ugly,
Piercing like a dagger sharp,
Leaving sores and bleeding wounds
In a soul and saddened heart.
Don't be careless or be hasty;
There's a battle to be fought.
Just slip closer up to Jesus:
"Be ye angry, and sin not."

I think we have all been angry at some time in our life or had someone be angry with us. I'm also sure that we have all seen what anger can do when not handled in the correct way. There are times we have a right to be angry...but it is never okay to be angry and be ugly to hurt someone. We need to bridle that tongue of ours and be careful of our attitude and the words we choose to use when we are angry. To handle our anger in a certain way is to do damage to the cause of Christ and to not only hurt our testimony...but also to potentially destroy another human being.

James 3:2-6 "For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell."

This spoke right to me. I have two teenagers and we do tend to speak angry words to each other. Yes we as Christians do, do these things but we ask God's forgiveness and move on and pray for patience.I needed this post. I hope you have a great weekend. Stay Warm. Love ya ~Lisa

Dear Sis.Julie, very good post. Once those angry words are out we can never bring them back. It is best just to shut our lips and get our hearts right. I know, I have been there. connie

Sis. Lisa...Oh Sister do I know what you mean. I don't tend to get as angry now that I only have one of my children at home and she is 20...but I do still tend to find myself getting angry with others and not responding with that anger like I should.

Sis. Connie...I wish I could say that I am not still going there...but I have not arrived in this area of my life. I do pray that I will begin to handle it in the way Christ would have me to.

VERY IMPORTANT!

Are you a good person? Take this test and find out.
