The Word Is A Weapon

Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

We are in a warfare! When we commit to being doers of the Word we can expect attacks from the enemy. James 1:22 "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving you own selves." II Corinthians 10:4-5 "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;" God's Word is a weapon of our warfare. Prayer is another one...but we are dealing with the Word of God here.

Hebrews 4:12 describes this weapon. It is quick (alive)...powerful (strong)...sharper than a two-edged sword (effective and cuts going in and it cuts going out). It is highly and completely and completely effective. It pierces (penetrates) and gets done what it is designed to accomplish.

II Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" The Word of God is inspired and God-breathed. It is good for doctrine (learning and teaching). It is the creed for good-living. We are to learn it and then teach it to others. It's for reproof (convict by giving convincing proof)...correction (something that was straight and goes wayward)...instruction is self-explanatory in teaching us righteous living.

Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." We need to know that no matter what we are facing today we can KNOW that if we love God...that all we are going through today is for our good. How do we know if we love God? Not everyone loves God. They might say it with their mouth...but are they saying it with their life? We know we love God if we keep His commandments. John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments." John 14:21 "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." John 15:10 "If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love." We are keeping His commandments when we are doers of His Word. Do you read His Word? Are you a doer of what His Word says?

God's Word is a weapon...in quoting AND in obedience.

Mrs Julie where would we be without God's Word. You are right one thing to read the Word butwe must study the word, and meditate in the word, and memorize the Word. Thanks fo sharing

Bro. Tim...it is also important to obey the Word. They all work together to make the Word of God a mighty weapon that cannot be outdone.

Amen Julie,
Jesus in His teachings, makes a great deal of obedience. "You are My friends—if you do what I command you." John 15:14. We are to learn to be patient, meek, gentle, compassionate. We are to learn to be humble, kind, unselfish, truthful, sincere. We enter Christ's school to be trained in all the qualities which make up the true Christian life. Jesus is not only the teacher—His life is the textbook which we are to study!
