The Two Gardens Part I

Genesis 2:8-9 "And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. Out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight,..."

There are two gardens that are mentioned in the Bible. Today I want to focus on the Garden of Eden. The word Eden means delicate, delight, pleasure. This garden had a river running out of it. This river was a water source for the flowers and plants and trees. This garden was no doubt beautiful.

This garden represents the mountain tops of our lives. Our lives will not always be pleasant. If they were we would not appreciate the mountain tops.

God created the Garden of Eden. It was the perfect place. It was a pleasant place. God gives us pleasant times and places in our Christian life. These times are a time of rest. We do not rest easy when we go through difficult times. But we do have those times when we do rest.

When things are good...if we're not careful...we'll forget the Lord. We sure don't forget Him in the trying times of our lives. We tend to spend more time with Him. But on the mountain top....when things are going well...we tend to get busy and push Him to the side.

The Garden of Eden was pleasant...quiet and serene. That is how we can describe the mountain tops of our lives. If you're on the mountain top now...you won't stay there. There will be something that will bring you down from it.

The next post will deal with the other garden...so come back for that one.

I really like this post. It really hit home too. I am ashamed that I do sometimes not spend enough time with Him when things are going good. It only takes one thing to happen for one to rememeber though doesn't it?

this is a wonderful reminder to us to remember and stay in the word, and continue studying the bible and praising Him for his goodness to us while we are in the good times...
thanks for this post...

Sis. Heather...The Lord certainly knows what will minister to our hearts and when and where to find it. I'm glad this was a blessing to your heart.
