Haste Makes Waste

Isaiah 28:16 "...he that believeth shall not make haste."

Haste means to be eager with excitement.

I got to thinking about this thing of making haste. I thought about those times when I felt the "need" to fill my plate with more food than I could eat. I made haste when I did that and I also wasted the food I could not eat. I ended up with more than I could eat. Then there were times I made haste in something I just "had to have" at that moment when I was shopping. When I did hat I made haste and often times it was not the will of God to do that and the money spent ended up being a waste. Either it broke shortly thereafter or I found it cheaper somewhere else or on clearance there later. Oh if I had only waited.

It seems to me any time we make haste to do anything...it ends up being a waste and ends up causing regret.

Has this been the case in your life or am I the only one that has done this?

Making haste is definitely not of God. If it was it wouldn't create waste. So before you are tempted to make a hasteful decision in anything...pray before you make that decision to see if that is something God wants you to do.

No doubt there will be a lot of making hasteful decisins going on during this holiday season of shopping. Be sure to be aware of it and pray that the Lord help you not to do this thing. Those of us who know the Lord don't have to make haste. He is there to help us with it.

You know...I am a pretty impulsive person, a character trait, or sin area I am not proud of...I have really been trying this Christmas season to be careful...I have put MANY things back on the shelf.....

Julie -
You are so right. I have really been trying to be careful about this since reading your post on praying before buying. It has really been a help, especially during this season! There are lots of areas I am working on this in.

MRs Julie I glad to hear that your SIL is doing better, I too pray that you all don't get sick I remember that from last time but you were painting too so maybe that had a lot to do with it. YOu are right sometimes we all make hasty decisions that cause to regret what we have done. I agree if we would just pray we would saved heartache, and on top of that save money. Good Post.
