Your Reasonable Service

Romans 12:1 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."

Paul wrote to believers to help them understand that they were believer-priests. In other words...they no longer had to go through the Old Testament priests to get to God. They were now able to offer sacrifices unto God themselves.

Paul says that we must rightly worship God by presenting our whole lives as a living sacrifice. He was saying that we should offer every part of ourselves to God. The action of worship is more than just attending church from 11:00-12:00 on Sunday morning. It is more than just paying lip-service to God a few times a week. True worship involves the change of a life...when I say "Lord...here's my life...I lay it on the altar as a sacrifice to You. Lord...if You want to use my hands to help someone this week...then I will worship You through that service. Lord...if You want to use my lips to proclaim Your love...then I surrender them to You. If You want to use my feet to go and tell someone about You...then I'll be glad to go. Lord...I present my entire self to You." The Bible says that this is our "reasonable service".

No pastor is being unreasonable when He encourages God's people to this type of commitment and surrender...your "reasonable service".

Julie....
Another Good one....this sure is a challenge as I...myself order my steps during the DAY...not always asking IS this what the LORD would have me to do....the word reasonable sticks out to me...it is like saying *this is the LEAST you can do*...does that sound right to you?

sis. deby....that sounds right to me. I mean....all Jesus did was die for us. How much more can we do for Him?

Great post!
He gave his life for us, the least (and most 'reasonable') thing we can do is give our lives to Him.

Thank you, also, by the way, for sharing about your husband and y'all's experience. I pray he feels better soon.
Thank you for your prayers for Ally. They are a blessing. ;o)

Mrs Julie one of my favorite verses in Bible no excuses why we don't give God our reasonable service. Good Post.
