Some People Are Just Ignorant

Revelation 3:17 "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:"

These people in the church of Laodecia seem to be ignorant. We have a lot of people today who also seem to be ignorant.

They "have need of nothing" (so they think). Many people today have all the material wealth they could ever want or ask for. Yet they are lacking what is most important. They lack the peace of God and in some cases peace WITH God. They have everything they could ever want here on this earth yet they are missing it. If they only knew that a personal relationship with Christ would give them everything they could ever want or need here and after.

Material possessions do not bring satisfaction. Not true satisfaction. Only knowing Christ in a real and personal way can bring true satisfaction.

There are those that can't help it...they are ignorant of God and what Christ did for them on Calvary. How do I know this? Because I lived 24 years of my life being ignorant of it. Three of those years were while I was living here in the area known as "The Bible Belt". No one had taken the time to share with me what Christ did for me and that there is a Hell where people go that don't know God...and that there is a place called Heaven where God is and that I can go there. So I'm not naive enough to believe that there aren't others out there in the world today that don't know.

There are also (I believe) those that prefer to be ignorant on purpose. They have heard the gospel message but have chosen not to believe it and/or not to accept it. They feel like they are okay the way they are and that they'll either make it to Heaven anyway or that they don't need anything Christ has to offer.

It will be a sad day when those who are ignorant either by choice or not...and they stand before God at the Great White Throne Judgment only to find they could have avoided the Lake of Fire. Revelation 20:11, 14-15 "And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

We have got to get busy and warn the ignorant people of this world of a coming judgment and that there is a way of escape. That way is through Jesus. John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Dear Sister Julie,
You are very right. It is very sad but we know several people who are "choosing" to be ignorant. We must keep praying for them, and trying to reach those who are truly ignorant, before it's too late.
I wanted to tell you that this post and the last several have been blessings as well. I have been stopping by to read but have not left comments as I have been so busy with two sets of out of town company recently. Now things are starting to calm down a little bit.
Thank you for keeping up your encouraging blog!

I know plenty people who are ignorant by choice. It is really so sad. I have often sat and thought of those I have invited to church and spoken to about Christ who simply refuse to go or to even listen. Then I say a little prayer in hopes that the Lord will lead them where they need to be.
Some people seem to believe that since they are relatively good people and try to do good deeds that is all they need to do to make it to heaven. They know nothing of salvation! How can one believe in heaven but not know or trust in Jesus Christ? It baffles the mind.
Thank you for posting this Julie.

sis. tiffany....you are so right. It saddens my heart too. I have family members that think they have all they need and don't feel a need for Christ in their lives. I also have some who think they already possess Him but their lifestyle and such shows nothing of knowing Christ. We definitely need to pray for them and others who are in such a state as what I posted about.

Ignorance will certainly take you to Hell. There is a man we know married to a woman in our church that is one of the sweetest men you'll run across. He's a great husband, a terrific father, but does not see his need for salvation. But I believe and know the Lord will save him one of these days. Everytime I see him at church, I get excited in hopes that he will take a step out of his pew and walk the isle. He is a burden and I believe that as long as the Lord burdens your heart for someone, there is hope for that someone.

sis. amy...thank you so much for your prayers for my hubby. He is not doing a whole lot better as of yet. I'm praying today will be better since he has some of the antibiotic in his system now. I only pray it is what the ER doctor says it is which is an abcessed tooth. If that isn't it then the antibiotic won't do anything. We may be going back to the dr if not.

VERY IMPORTANT!

Are you a good person? Take this test and find out.
