Romans 8:26 "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."
Have you ever gone to God in prayer and found yourself not being able to utter a word? You were so burdened down that all you could do was cry? I have certainly done that.
This verse gives me the assurance that God knows what we're crying about. God understands those tears and the cry of our heart. I'm so thankful for that. God tells us that when we can't say a word that the Holy Spirit knows and makes intercession for us. He takes that request and burden of our heart to the throne of God for us. I like that!! Don't you?
So the next time you are so burdened about that loved one...or are so broken about something in your life and you can't get a word out for your crying...just know that the Holy Spirit is taking that thing to God for you. I believe that those prayers are the most precious to God because it testifies of a broken heart and a broken spirit.
I've known that He knew what I was praying for when I couldn't even say a word...but He reminded me of this truth....and it blessed me. I know this post is short but it blessed me so much I just couldn't help but encourage you with it too.

What a great post!! sis.Julie I surely have done that... it's hard to explain it just gives you such a good feeling you get up and you just have such a peace about what you are praying for in the first place.
sis. marsheila....you are right. That peace comes from that assurance in knowing that he heard you cry and understood what you were praying for even though you didn't say a word.
Julie,
this post was just perfect for a dear friend of mine... she is going through such a hard time... the other day she expressed to me the same thing you speak about... and I explained to her that God hears and understands our Groans...your post just re-emphasized that ... if it is all right with you I would like to print it off and take it to her...
Oh I have been in this place many times. One of our greatest blessing is have the Holy Spirt to interceed for us.
Great post as usual.
Praying you have a great week.
Love and Hugs, Lyndy
Julie your posts are always so inspiring!
mimi....thank you for asking permission but it isn't necessary to ask permission to print things off to show someone in order to help them. I pray it will encourage her in some way.
sis. lyndy....I pray you her a good week as well. Love you!!
sis. tiffany...Praise the Lord!! It helps me to know others are helped and encouraged. Thank you for letting me know it helped you.
Mrs Julie I have been in this place several times in my life, I thank God that he knows what I need before I need it.
Bro Tim
bro. tim...I'm so glad of that too!!
So encouraging, Julie.
There's also a whole category of Psalms called the "Psalms of Lament." God know how much we would need help to pray at times when words fail us. I say Amen to that!
What a true post! A post that went straight to the heart!

e-mom...thank you for reminding us of that. I say Amen too!!

What a wonderful encouragement, there is so much on my heart to tell God at the moment that to read these words was such a blessing.
Thank you dear sister

Amen, I certainly have. Seems like I have done that even more often here lately. God is becoming so precious to me!! :)
I thank Him for the trials that draw us closer to Him!!
Love you!!
Sis. Julie, I have been there some times in my life. It means so much to know that God knows our inner most being and the language of our hearts and He just put His hand on our heart and seems to say, "Peace be still." My heart calms down and my thoughts become clear and I know that God loves me and will never leave me or forsake me. connie from Texas
Hi Julie; I just found your blog through "A Note From Theresa". It looks as though we are like-minded sisters in Christ! I will be sure to visit here often-- it looks like I will be sure to receive a blessing from it!
This is so true. I'm convicted just thinking about how long it's been since something really moved me to tears before the Lord. It's amazing how cold our hearts can get without us realizing it, and only the Word of God can soften them up. Thank you for the post!
sis. amy....I'm so thankful how God encourages us when we need it. He knows just what we need to hear doesn't He?
e-mom...thank you for letting me know. I'll be coming by!!
jessica...Amen!!
sis. connie...He most certainly does...and to me that is just wonderful!!
sis. pam...thank you for stopping by and visiting. Thank you also for commenting. I love comments!! I pray you receive a blessing from everything you read here at Julie's Jewels. You have blessed me just by coming by and letting me know you were here.
bro. david...I know what you mean. I will go sometimes quite a while between those type of prayers...and it convicts me to think about it too. But to know that when I am in that state and He understands the cry of my heart is such a blessing!!
Hi :)
I just wanted to leave a comment to let you know I recently found your blog and am enjoying it.
Candy :)
candy....thank you so much for commenting and letting me know you came by and you are enjoying what you are reading. I pray you will continue to come and continue to get blessed.
Tears are a language God understands.....I know this to be true! Many times I have found myself only being able to cry, but God knew the burden on my heart and came through for me.
~Kristi
sis. kristi...Amen!!
This post reminded me of the song "Tears Are A Language God Understands". It also reminded me of the Bible verse that states that God saves our tears in a bottle. Can't remember the reference right now. I just had one of those nights Sunday night! I was so burdened and hurting but couldn't get anything out in prayer. Thanks for this post Sis. Julie.
sis. pam...I think I've heard of that song.
In regards to God understanding and having compassion on our tears, this verse always comes to my mind:
Psalms 56:8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?
Praise the Lord for this verse too:
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
bro. jerry...it will be a great day when He wipes our tears away!!
