There Is Much To Come...But What About Right Now?

I Peter 2:10 "Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy."

We have been promised many wonderful things to come for those who have put their faith in Christ for salvation. I Corinthians 2:9 "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."

We also have many wonderful things given to us now. We have eternal life. John 10:28 "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." We are free from condemnation. Romans 8:1 "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

We have been justified. We have been made righteous...but not with our righteousness but with the righteousness of Christ. Romans 5:9 "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." Romans 3:21-22 "But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference."

The main verse for this post in I Peter tells us we "now have obtained mercy" and that now we are "the people of God."

We also have the assurance now that our Lord is praying for us. Romans 8:27 "And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God." I like that. If there is One I want praying for me it is my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. What a wonderful promise this is for the saint of God.

I'm very thankful for the things that God has promised us for the future...but I'm also very glad that there are things that He has promised us for right now!!

Amen Thank God For his precious promises he gives us for today and for the future. Good Post!! I have posted a little note I will not be posting again until next week sometime if we are able to get the computer up and running. Thanks for the kind things you said in the ordination post. The Glory all belongs to him. Sometimes I am in a blur to what God has finally given me after several years of praying. I just want my pastorate to glorify.

bro. tim...thanks for the heads up about your posting. I checked earlier today and you hadn't...so I figured you would not be before you left. I'm sure the Lord will be glorified in your church and in the way you lead God's people there. You have been such a blessing to us and not doubt will be to them too.
