We Need Revival In Our Homes (Part I)

Ephesians 5:23 & 25 "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;"

The devil hates the family. He desires to destroy it. He was not happy when the home was instituted. He's been out to destroy it ever since.

Home life needs to be the most important part of peoples lives. Unfortunately women are choosing a career over their family. Husbands are spending more time doing the things they want to do than to make sure they are taking time with their families.

Young people also need to be careful about the choices they make. They choices they make (if they're the wrong ones) can destroy or have a major effect on their home life in the future. God intended for young ladies to be trained up to be wives and mothers...not career women. Letting our daughters get out and get jobs is contrary to God's will.

Children are being brought up to be "above or better" than everyone else. The fault lies with the parents a lot of times. Yes...the world has its influences on them as well...but the parents are both working so they can have nicer things and more things than there neighbor. They have to have the more expensive things...the name brand things.

Our children need both parents in the home. We need the daddies to be there for their families. Hollywood promotes remarriage over and over again. There is hope for the family that the man is doing what he ought to do. Men are selfish these days. They have too much love for themselves than their wife and children.

Some husbands are too busy fishing and/or hunting or doing those things they want to do and not what they need to do. Wives need their husbands at home. They're spending money on themselves and their recreation instead of their wives and their children. Husbands need to take their wives out and pamper them. They need to make sure their children have everything they need.

Wives need their husbands to spend time with them. Many men spend more time and effort on their job without taking any time with their wives. God gave each husband a wife. The Lord is responsible for instituting the marriage and union between a man and a woman. Our husbands need to treasure their wife.

Tomorrow will be part two of this topic of revival in our homes.

Amen! Of course we know before Revival ends up in the House of God it is going to start in the home.If God could get ahold of the hearts of his people in the home it would be amazing to see what God could do in the church.

bro. tim...of course we won't see revival until people's hearts are right with one another and right with Him. And you are so starts in the home. I believe that is what God was trying to get across to each of us that were in the services each morning that this was preached.

Awesome post! Sometimes there are things in our home that bother me, but I am learning slowly that I should just work on myself, and when I do I find that my husband is so much easier to get along with haha. And lately has been wonderful because of our baby boy being born any time now I get to plan things for him and it's so exciting.

katy-anne....learning to live with one another as a married couple is an ever learning process. I've been married for 21 years now and I'm still learning how to relate to my husband just as he is still learning to relate to me. This was brought out between us yesterday in fact. Something was done that upset me and the he got upset with me because it upset me. But he said he is still trying to learn how to relate to me in certain aspects. I can say that same thing where he is concerned. You'd think we'd have it down by now wouldn't you? LOL!!!

This is an excellent post sis! I do want to add one thing about women and working, no where in the Bible does God tell women they are not allowed to work outside of the home. The Proverbs 31 wife worked out of the home but it was to help provide for the family and not keep up with the neighbors or anything like that but as a good stewardship help care for her family. As long as the priorities are straight and the children are in no way neglegeted nor the husband then it can be done in a very Godly way.

Revival is something that all of us should crave and strive for and especially pray for. Wouldn't it be such an awesome and wonderful thing! But it has to start with the individual and then in the home or it will never happen!
Thank for this awesome post!

sis. cindy...if you will notice in Proverbs 31 she worked in the home making clothing and tapestries (home furnishings) and went to the merchants to sell those things she sold. In Titus 2:5 says "To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed." If you notice it says "keepers at home" not "keepers of the home". I believe that God says what He means and means what He says. I'm not meaning any of this ugly. I realize there are situations that the woman needs to work but it is not what God desires for the woman to do. Thank you for your comment. I love you!!

Do you mind if I link to some of your posts occasionally? As we travel I find it hard to write something for each Sunday and I know I can trust your doctrine. I would of course link it to you.

jungle mom....I'd be honored if you did that. Thank you for asking me.

I agree with nearly all of this - but I cannot help but think that if no women worked, I would not have been able to have such wonderful Christian female doctors with the births of my two children. If no women worked, I would have had to go to a male OB, which would have made me extremely uncomfortable. And I was so grateful that my doctors were both female and Christian, and fully understood my specific needs as a Christian, especially because all my pregnancies have been very high-risk.

I am SO grateful that some bright young Christian women decide to become OB's and help people bring children into the world! I just cannot imagine that God would not want that! And if God doesn't want that, I really don't see a viable alternative for women like me who, unfortunately, have difficulty with pregnancy, and need doctors to monitor this.

What are your thoughts? I'd be interested to hear them - I think your blog is very well-thought-out, and respect your opinions here.

Jenna...I agree with you. I have simply tried to express how my husband and I believe for OUR children. You are right about women as OB/GYNs. I'm thankful for them too. I've had men before and one experience was absolutely awful. There are women who have no problem pursuing further education in order to fill those professions. But we have felt it not best to encourage OUR children to go in those directions.

But we only ask our children to pray as we pray with them to see what God would have them to do. They can always make their own choices as one of our children has chosen to do. She has moved out of our home and is currently living out of state and her life has not been what she thought it would be having done so. I believe God's Word is plain in leaving the father and mother and cleaving unto their spouse. And we have tried the best we know how to train our kids up according to His Word and what it says.

Thank you for your comments and your questions. I appreciate that you were not argumentative about it too. I pray you will come back again.
