Young Person--Are You Waiting On God?

I Corinthians 7:32-34 "But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband."

Many young people are getting impatient in their waiting on God to send them someone and are out there SEEKING for a mate. I did not know the Lord as a young person and I went seeking for a mate. The Lord blessed me in MY choice...however...we had to go through alot of difficult times as a result of not knowing the Lord and making things go the way we wanted them to and not the way God necessarily intended for them to go. When I talk to young people they tell me "Things turned out okay for you in how you did things." They say that because I have three children and am married to a God-called preacher who now pastors a church. What they don't realize is the scars that are there as a result of all we went through. I have seen time and time again in the lives of young people who wait on God to send them the one God has for them and how God blesses that union if things are done God's way. I've also seen young people give up on waiting on God and go out and find THEIR choice for them and their lives turn out to be miserable and hurtful as a result instead of joyous and loving.

God has someone for each person. It is best to wait on Him to bring that person into your life and not rush things by getting impatient and going after the one YOU want to have. God's choice is always right!!!

In the meantime...tend to the things of the Lord. Keep yourselves pure physically and spiritually. Keep your focus on the Lord and your walk with Him. Let Him take care of finding that mate for you. He'll let you know when that one He has for you has come along. And when He does it will be right. Then once God brings that one and you marry him/her...your responsibility shifts to caring for that spouse. Yes...you still need to focus on your walk with the Lord but you now have someone else to care for and you are not to forsake him/her.

So if you are a young person that is waiting on God...keep praying for that future spouse of yours. God knows just who that is and you don't need to be concerned with it. Just focus on Christ and pray!! God will take care of the rest.

Well needed words to be said. Our children are our future. We need to pray muchly for them.
I heard a sermon by Paul Washer and it is to the youth of today. It is a message to be heard by them and even by us.

sis. connie....yes ma'am I sure did meet Olivia. I've already read some of her posts. She obviously has a love for the Lord and is seeking to please Him in her life. That is always a blessing to see in young people. I plan to visit her site regularly.

Amen, Julie,
Well put. Many have jumped right on in to spouse-hunting like when they have not first become complete in Him first. Well put that we must "tend to the things of Lord".

Amen

Yes Julie, I agree 100%. I remember an evangelist visiting our home once when I was going through that time of "searching for Mr. Right". He advised me to simply stop searching. Pray about it, live my life pleasing to God, and if God wanted me to marry, he would send the right man. It was the best advice I've ever been given! I'm very glad I heeded and turned it over to the Lord. It's amazing how I met my hubby!

When I got saved, I was 16, and was still trying to get someone in my own way. About a month passed, and I broke up with a boy, it did not take me long to see he was not right for me. I made a vow to the Lord, that I would wait on Him to send me someone, and if no one shows up, I was willing to die an old maid. Three days passed, the Lord had worked in the heart of a young man at my church, and he asked me out. We dated for a year and a half and got married. 15 years later, we are still as happy, as if we was still newlyweds.

Yes, young people, wait on the Lord, so that He'll be able to bless your union together.

Hi,
I had to comment on this post. I have struggled with this subject from time to time.

Waiting sometimes seems to be the hardest thing to do. But that's what I have done and will still do until the Lord places my "prince" in my life.

Thank you for your encourging post!
