Tattoos--Does God Approve Part II

Leviticus 19:28 "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD."

As we read in this verse we can clearly see that God condemns and not condones the tattoo. Throughout history the tattoo has been associated with paganism, demonism, Baal worship, etc. The tattoo has never been associated with Bible believing Christians.

The tattoo is much more than a body decoration. It's more than just a layer of ink cut in the skin. The tattoo is believed to be a bridge into the supernatural world.

A tattooist was quoted as saying..."When the designs are chosen with care...tattoos have a power and magic all their own. They decorate the body but they also enhance the soul." Another tattoo artist said he "allows his clients' demons to help guide the needle."

Tattoos are not something to be proud of. Every truly born-again believer I know that has a tattoo and has been told how God feels about the tattoo is ashamed of the ones they have. They attempt in any way they can to cover it up. Before they were saved or knew they were wrong they were proud of them and wanted people to notice them.

A tattoo sends out a message of rebellion. Some people say that tattoos are a high fashion and are cool. I say they are ugly and not pleasing to the Lord.

How could something like this be pleasing to the Lord. The Lord says in I Corinthians 3:17 "If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." Just like anything else that we do to our bodies that God does not approve of (smoking, drinking alcohol, drugs, etc) God will allow it to destroy our bodies. Smokers get lung disease, alcoholics get liver and bladder disease, drugs destroy the brain and other parts of the body and tattoos also cause disease. Pamela Anderson contracted Hepatitis C from getting a tattoo. The Red Cross prohibits anyone from donating blood for one year after the person has gotten a tattoo. Why would the Red Cross have such restrictions if tattooing was healthy and good? By and large tattoo shops and parlors are not required by state and local government to follow the same sterile operating practices of other businesses that use needles. You would think that would turn people away from wanting to get a tattoo. But it doesn't.

The pigments in the tattoo ink contain small metal fibers such as iron oxide. Due to this...some medical institutions will refuse to perform MRIs on people with tattoos. With this being said...how can a person think this practice is good for them?

My next post we'll look more at what God has to say about this subject.

Sis. Julie ~ I am learning so much reading your posts; you have really done some good research. I am not surprised at the demonic correlation, but to read that one artist say he allows the demons to guide the needle. Oh, protect us Dear Lord!

Mrs Julie good post again. They are ugly and they definitely don't please the Lord. I agree I think there is some demonic influence behind tattoo's. I would have to say even before I was saved I had no desire to get a tattoo. And now that I am saved I just know it is against God's Word. It is like anything else people just want to condone their sin even though in God's eyes it is definitely not pleasing. I am looking forward to the next post. Have a good day!!

sis. jodi...I too was shocked when I read what those tattoo artists said. There were other testimonies as well but those were the two that stood out to me most. I was not shocked however to learn that there was demonic influence in the practice though...it just sounds like something that demons would be involved with. I'm glad you are learning from this...I sure did as I was studying and researching.

bro. tim....I didn't have any desire to get a tattoo before getting saved either...but my reasoning was just because I knew it was painful to have done. Have you seen how a tattoo that has been freshly done looks? It is quite disgusting!! EWWW!! I hope your day is great as well!

I agree with both of your post concerning that tatoos. I do not think that God approves at all. Many people that I know and love have tatoos, some before being saved and others just because they see nothing wrong with it. I hate them!!! Great posts!

Wonderful! Great job! I liked your post so much I let my almost 15 year old boy read it. I feel that all young people need to hear this. I will be reading part three. May the Lord bless your day.

just theresa....what a blessing that you let your son read the post. I think all people...young and old....need to know the truth of this wicked practice that is taking place in our society and even the Christian realm. Once knowing about it we must stand against it. Thank you so much Sis!!

Great posts Julie!!!

Have you read the book called 'The Marketing of Evil'? In one of the chapters the author talks about tatoos and the teenage practice of cutting and how they're linked. It was very eye-opening. It was a hard book to read but very much worth it. I believe the book has been banned in some places.

Blessings!

mrs. b...no I haven't heard of that book. I'm sure it was very eye opening. I do know that the cutting of the flesh and the tattooing is connected. In fact..the tattooing process is really cutting of the flesh. The needles cut the flesh and then put the ink under the skin. It actually produces blood and is also called blood-letting.

This is an excellent study. And I am intrigued to find and read the book Mrs. B mentioned!

Thanks Julie for speaking out so boldly on such a common practice these days.

I totally agree Julie, a brother at church who has tattoos from before he became a Christian was the first to tell me that God doesn't want His children to have tattoos. But when I've told others that it's not Biblically sound to get tattoos I've been told that it's the old law and we're free from the old law; I got laughed at a bit too. But I still hold to the belief that it's not right to get tattoos, because of this scripture.

pam....thank you Sister!! I knew this subject would be a difficult one to post. I knew I'd get opposition somewhere down the line. That is why it was so important that the timing of this be right. I've had this study done for a few months but just waited on God to give me liberty to post it. I'm overwhelmed at the support I've gotten but I knew I'd get someone who would try to justify it. Just pray God gives me wisdom as I deal with them and that my Spirit be right when I do it.

sis. sarah....its so important that we take a stand even when we get ridiculed. Its not easy to get laughed at but when we know something is wrong in God's eyes...He expects us to stand firm against it.

And of course it is fine that you linked to that post. You and anyone can link to any post I put up on here. I don't claim them as "mine" solely...they are for anyone who needs to copy them or use them for whatever purpose they deem necessary.

VERY IMPORTANT!

Are you a good person? Take this test and find out.
