II Timothy 4:2 "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."
He is an old time preacher man Lord...
That's all he cares to be.
A leather-lunged evangel
Marking time through history.
His message is the old one...
It has come from up above...
Filled with lessons ever new
And with Jesus' heavenly love.
An old worn out coat and case
And a Bible tried and true.
There's naught else he needs O Lord...
More than faith and trust in You.
To see sinners humbly bow
And to call upon Thy name...
Tis all he ever wanted
Twas his only claim to fame.
He stood for truth and rightness
And for God and country too...
Shouting out with victory
For holiness through and through.
He's an old time preacher Lord...
His kind a soon passing breed.
I pray his mold won't be tossed...
For his kind is what we need.
I thank God for each and every old time preacher that has stayed faithful and preaching the old time way. I have had the honor and privilege to sit under the preaching of many old time preachers. We should not take those men of God for granted. As they pass off the scene may men stay open to the calling of God on their lives to preach the glorious gospel and to continue in the old time way.

I have sat under the old time preacher and the new fangled ones too. Education has it's merit, but the pastor that most influenced my life was one w/a 6th or 7th grade education and the POWER of the HOLY GHOST. He didn't always pronounce his words correctly, but he studied the Word and faithfully declared 'what saith the Lord'.
I am thankful for the old time preachers...especially ones who have been a part of my past and I realize now how much their teaching has helped me now years later!
Amen! I loved this and copied it to email to my dad, an old time preacher man!
I love this! Old Time preachers are such a blessing. I thank God for the one at my church all the time.
I'm thankful that my preacher falls under this category! I praise the Lord for the man of God He has blessed us with!
I enjoyed this poem. I too have had the privilege to sit under some great old time preaching. The Lord really needs for his preachers to preach that old time religion. It might not be popular with the world but God's children should love it.Amen.
I was going to send this to my Dad but looks like my sister, Pam beat me to it!
This week as we were going around and visiting the graves of my ancestors, I found out that many of my grandfathers were Methodist Circuit-rider preachers! :) They rode around from church to church taking the good news.
It hit me as funny, because my entire family has such a hodge podge of "religion" right now---we have Quaker, Baptist, Evangelical, agnostic, everything really. It is nice to know that maybe, just maybe I come from a heritage with some roots and not just everyone picking and choosing some denomination out of the wind.
