Lessons Concerning Sin Part II

Galatians 6:7 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

In my previous post I listed two facts about sin...that it is not to be mocked or made fun of and that sin is a reproach, or a disgrace to the human race. Sin is sin, no matter where it is committed. Just because you disguise it with a different name doesn't lessen the consequences.

In fact, many children of God are making decisions to do things that are contrary to God's Word and saying that God worked it all out for them or that He layed it on their heart to do it. If it does not line up with the Word of God all the way down the line then it is SIN. And there are consequences to that sin. (Just thought I would throw that in there!!)

In this post I want to look at two more facts about sin. Keep in mind this is not all there is about sin in the Bible, but there just isn't enough space to allow for it all...not that I know it all either mind you.

The Psalmist wrote in Psalm 38:3 "There is not soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin." David's sin had made him restless because of the physical effects it had caused. He says in a sense, "This thing found its way into my innermost being and it is causing me to be uncomfortable."

We also read in Psalm 32:5, "I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah." Sin needs to be acknowledged and confessed. Don't try to hide it from God, admit it is there and confess it. If necessary, do it now!! Covered sins will bring heartaches and stop God from blessing in your life.

Proverbs 28:13 "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy."

Is the sin that you are committing against God's Word worth missing out on His blessings and suffering the consequences instead?

You know, confession is good for the soul and I believe that. Have you ever kept something "hidden" even though you know God already knows about it, it just makes things better when you humbly confess it to your Heavenly Father.

Fantastic posts! Sin is something that we have to deal with day in and day out and so many people do not take it seriously! Thank you for these two posts!

Julie these posts on sin are a good reminder to us all; unfortunately "the church" doesn't always do its job reminding CHRISTIANS to continually confess our sins. I've seen an almost casual attitude towards sin in many churches today.

VERY IMPORTANT!
