The Honeymoon We Never Got!!

Isn't that a beautiful picture? That is the view from our trip to Gatlinburg, TN. I want to start off by thanking each of you for praying for us during my absence. I did not mean to alarm or concern any of you. I did not say what was going on due to our kids staying at home by themselves while my husband and I went on a trip for five days and five nights.
~
For Christmas my husband and I received an all expenses paid trip to Gatlinburg, TN from my husband's sister and her husband. They had taken care of all the accommodations in a beautiful cabin right on the river. It was so relaxing and peaceful. Our church surprised us with money to take with us to go to some of the places and do some of the activities that are offered there in Gatlinburg and in Pigeon Forge. We left here Wednesday morning and made the trip there getting there at around 3:30 or so. We relaxed (with no phones ringing, and no kids fussing, and no worries about schoolwork to get done) and enjoyed time with just US!! I have to say it was a bit strange for us to start with. By the end of our trip we were ready to come home but at the same time not wanting to come home (if that makes any sense).
~
I have several pictures to share with you but will do that tomorrow in my next post.
~
The reason I said this was the honeymoon we never got is because when my husband and I got married we already had our son Ronnie. Ronnie was 4 months old and it just wasn't possible for us to take a honeymoon. My husband and I have been married almost 21 years and have never gone off anywhere (except to eat a meal together for our anniversary each year) by ourselves.
~
This trip was very much needed for both of us. Although we missed our kids, our church and our friends...we very much enjoyed getting to spend time together just the two of us. We are glad to be home and are getting back into the "swing of things" again.
~
I'm so sorry to have concerned you all and leading you all to believe that something may have been wrong. Although we did fight some small battles just to see this trip come about (trying to get things set with the kids on rules and things that would need done even though we wouldn't be here) we did get to go and had a great time!! So please forgive me for leading you all to think something was wrong. I did appreciate y'alls prayers though and although you didn't know what to pray for....my Heavenly Father knew what we had need of prayer for. I love you all and thank God for each of you.
~
Come back tomorrow to see the pictures from our trip.

My dear Sister Julie,
After seeing once-rock-solid marriages fall apart, we decided to start taking time off for ourselves. It has made a great contribution to our marriage. I would say that anyone, especially those in ministry, should take off regularly for the sake of their marriage. So many people see their pastor as just that, a pastor and they don't see that he is a normal man with a wife.
I also know that your children and your future children-in-law will also greatly benefit from seeing parents dedicated to a great marriage.
Glad you're back!
Rhonda
